I am grateful about AIME.
Still our souls are drums and their beat is to be heard
1. At some point while viewing the film (http://modesofexistence.org/3-years-ago/) the following poem came to my mind
(http://www.cavafy.com/poems/content.asp?id=135&cat=1)
The footsteps
Eagles of coral
adorn the ebony bed
where Nero lies fast asleep—
callous, peaceful, happy,
in the prime of his body’s strength,
in the fine vigor of youth.
But in the alabaster hall that holds
the ancient shrine of the Aenobarbi
how restless the household gods—
they tremble, the little Lares,
and try to hide their insignificant bodies.
They’ve heard a terrible sound,
a deadly sound coming up the stairs,
iron footsteps that shake the staircase;
and now faint with fear, the miserable Lares
scramble to the back of the shrine,
shoving each other and stumbling,
one little god falling over another,
because they know what kind of sound that is,
know by now the footsteps of the Furies.
(C.P. Cavafy, Collected Poems. Translated by Edmund Keeley and Philip Sherrard. Edited by George Savidis. Revised Edition. Princeton University Press, 1992)
The moderns are sleeping yet there is the sound of the iron footsteps (is it Gaia comming? is it the Empire ? (http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1058259.shtml or perhaps Rosenthal, J. L., & Wong, R. B. (2011). Before and beyond divergence. Harvard University Press., is it something else?) and the Lares (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lares), the moderns in the humanities, are very worried about the carriers of their patrimony.
2. “Us religious beings, we offer the fact that we do not believe in monotheism”
Taken face value means that some billions of people just step out of the negotiation table. What form of negotiation is this?
I mean the negotiation of moderns and non-moderns, or hybrids (who probably exist among the moderns as well)
3. Two people in front of a piece of paper argue politely about [REL] and [MET]. Where is the heat? Where is the transformation? Why are they not seized?
4. These continued negotiations in preparation of the Script book reminded me of Clandestine activities under the heavy patrolling of neoliberalism
5. “We must do a ritual at the beginning of Monday and we must invent it”, and indeed in part of the film there is the preparation of a ritual. From my (traditional) point of view: A game that does not convince me. (there is no "apostolic succession", or budhist or Muslim or Jewish or whatever you like). But this is perhaps because I am a hybrid, a chimera.
If there is one point that somehow moved me it was that session where the Speck book is examined by the small community, at the end. People are uncertain about the degree of agreement or disagreement they want to register.
But then I compare it with a liturgy (I have in mind the Orthodox Christian one but the Catholic at least must be similar). In a sense there is a similarity with the symbol of faith. It is as if a symbol of faith is gradually produced. And this sense of uncertainty on staying onboard or stepping out, is moving.
(I can also think of it as the preparation of a Communion to which others are called to partake or other kinds of religious communion, but there there is an Order beyond humans that calls us forth. We recognize a meeting. Here Gaia, might play that role, but this Gaia would also demand Ricoeur's different existential continents who meet in the deep. From the point of view of one such continent, Gaia might be the deep blue colour in the painting of the resurection or in the painting of the Τransfiguration: Ο Θειος γνωφος, the place of translation, the end of rational prowess)
But on the other hand what a pale analogue. The Symbol of Faith is between the reading of the Gospel and the Holy Communion. It is like comparing the crafting of a legal agreement with making love. It is bloodless ( a"bloodless sacrifice" indeed, if you consider that negotiation passes through sacrifice)

Tarkofsky, in my opinion, was closer to reality https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sacrifice
6. What is to my opinion the issue?
It is that moderns have to pass through non moderns in order to amend their revolutionary past. They have to pull back from the ideal of the intellectual who feels s/he can bring forth utopia through "good will" and meticulous control and make his/her soul the ruler of their society .
But those who can comprehend this (if we suppose that it is true) are those whose everyday navigation in life, is most graciously served by their societies not following this road. In this sense AIME may end up being like the one who says: "I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain".
